Got any cake or gift(s) to me Pete? Just joking....
How did I join Reach Out Malaysia?
Read all about it here - How did it start?
For this post, since this is the Anniversary Day, I would write about the volunteers who had and will continue to make impact on my life. This is the special edition and I write what I feel like writing.
This is Feexa Nicoll, former air stewardess, a wellness speaker, owner and founder of Anggun Timoer Consultancy as well as Hijab n The City. She loves CATS.
I look to her for strength, confidence and firmness.
The President of Reach Out Malaysia, an Islamic Scottish guy, a strong supporter of Rangers FC and if he allows it, he's a funny and charming guy. When I first saw him, he looked so huge and I felt so small talking to him (it likes Jerry talking to a Optimus Prime (Transformer). It took me a while to gather my confidence to talk to him.. well.. hehehe never had the chance to talk in English to a Scottish guy.
Being a Malaysian, I am so used to mix English and a little Malay in every conversation I had so that the listeners (especially students) can understand what I said. Now I can yap..yap...yap... in English with him. I love the way he interact with all sorts of people from all walks of life. Oh ya... should see him when he's around CATS
I look to him for confidence, firmness, dedication, passion and kindness.
I only get to know her recently although I have seen her many times before on every Saturday's afternoon run. She is in charge of bringing in the oranges. She loves CATS and she does not tolerate any cruelty to the animals. She's from Klang, always busy but still finds the time to be a volunteer at Reach Out Malaysia
I look to her for her dedication, passion, confidence and kindness.
He belongs to the team in charge of feeding the cats. The first time I saw him was the time when he were with Sam Ruslan walking around and sometimes would disappear into the alleys just to look and feed the stray cats. He's a law student in HELP University and College. There was one time he called Pete up to deliver boxes of unwanted clothing which he got it from MAS. It goes to show how dedicated a person he is. Personally, I think he would make a good human right lawyer.
I look to him for his humbleness, passion and kindness.
He is from Iran and now is residing in Germany. I miss him. He never missed out the Saturday's night run except when he had to. He would go around quietly but fast to feed the homeless. One minute you would see him but the next minute he is gone.
I look to him for his passion, dedication and kindness.
These are my students from my last working place and they are my brothers. Each of them are unique.
Steele - cool but warm at heart,
Berry - willingness to learn
Vincent - practicality
WIlson - cheerfulness
All of them share the same things - kindness and compassion. They are the most dedicated volunteers from my group of students.
Even though they are young but they are my teachers. I learn from them on how to make the 'I' disappear. (huh.. what is that? It's a Buddhist way of life)
This is Oyen, a regular homeless cat, who would always join us on every Saturday's afternoon food run. He would sometimes act as the supervisor (well, in its own way). He sits under the van watching us distributing the food. Oh ya.. he's also one of the food quality controllers. He loves to eat nasi lemak especially the fried chicken. There are 2 food quality controllers, one of them is Oyen and the other is Pete.
Oyen teaches me to be tolerant, kind and compassion.
Last but not least, Reach Out Malaysia Van.
It's the van that people look out for for this van brings with it
humanity,
love,
kindness,
compassion,
dedication and
hope.
Thank You for allowing me to be with you, to learn things on life from you, to teach me on kindness, compassion, passion, dedication, love and confidence. Thank you Feexa for showing me strength and supporting me in my times of crisis.
It has been a wonderful one year. I have learnt a lot and I hope to have another wonderful years in Reach Out Malaysia and with you all.
