" I had the great pleasure to work with a number of amazing folks today from our 1st run to our 2nd run tonight these folks gave it all.
And I thank God every day for all of our amazing Run Leaders and their crews who do this every day of the week.
Every week I see the care and it reinforces why I started this in the first place. For people to share, care, walk and help without any fear or barrier. Without any agenda other than to help those in need.
The Frontline is an amazing group of individuals coming together for a REAL cause. No ego. No lies. Just people who care.
Respect to you all."
There were no medals, no press, no salary, no recognition there to meet us.
Most of the times, we had to walk along the dirty alleys, met up with drunkards and unruly homeless.
Sometimes we would be toasted under the hot sun (like today) or soaking wet by the rain.
Sometimes we would be scolded by the homeless. (This afternoon I was reprimanded by one homeless person for being late causing her to wait for a period. I don't mind a bit because she was standing under the hot sun while I was driving in an air conditioning car).
I would say, it is not a glamorous job at all.
I wonder who is Bumblebee?
Me, I am Jerry.
I don't know about the other Run Leaders and senior volunteers but for me, by joining the Frontline's crew, I got to learn a lot about life. They teach me how to be patient, to be kind, to be compassionate, to be a team player, to be strong, to be disciplined but most importantly, they show me what love is all about.
You have passed your passion and dedication to me and I have successfully spread the same passion to my students like Berry, Melvin, Steele, Max, Crysti, Vincent, Wilson, Dennis, Aring, Erry, Hafis just to name a few.
It's my hope that they too will pass the same passion to the others in their group or to the next generations.
I shared the same feeling that Pete has.
I am lucky to have students, some of them who are also my brothers, to be with me in the Frontline week after week. 3 of them have become a dedicated members of the Reach Out Malaysia - Klang team. (Feel proud of them 3, although I do miss them joining me on Saturday runs) .
I got acknowledgement and smiles from strangers.
I know I am in this world for a reason.
I am having fun with the friends I made from Reach Out Malaysia, friends like you, Feexa, Nai, Azizul, Oreen, David, Mai, Hasif, Zaidy etc
I am enjoying my times with my students.
I am losing weights from all the walks and the free sauna sessions on every Saturday's food distribution.
I have become more vibrant.
I have become more stronger.
I truly understand that there are no big problems, only problems which I don't want to solve.
I am not afraid of cockroaches anymore ... well..not the flying ones anyway.
Would you ever forgive me?
Sincerely,
Jenn C.
P.S. Pete, I do need a few new Reach Out T Shirts..
If it ain't Starbucks, don't bother to wake me up hahahahaa....
