These are the scenes from the afternoon run. We were joined by the Nestle team. I replaced Saz as the program coordinator for yesterday run. The usual jam was there. Strangely, I can't find any parking near RotiBoy in Subang Parade. As fate has it, I brought along Nan thus she waited in the car while I was out there getting boxes of RotiBoy. Oyen was there and he was getting greedier by the minute. He wanted cat food as well as fried chicken from the nasi lemak. The snake in the Lost City is getting bigger. The completion at the feeding venue is going to be ready soon. I don't know how we are going to feed the homeless then. Oh ya, I didn't see the black cat, wonder where it was.
Troops or no troops I would still be out UNLESS I am not feeling well or I am not in KL. Yesterday night, I was joined by 2 not so new guys, Dennis and Max to the night run. The other two were Ho and Kua. My usual crews well, they decided to join the other guy. This gave chance for some new members to join. It reminded me why I started to bring my students to Reach Out but somehow I miss the old crews. Well.. Easy Come Easy Go. Guess what, it was fun having Max and Dennis on board. They are playful and energetic just like Ho. Having these 3 guys on board sure rock the night away. With Kua in the team, he was sort of the orderly guy around. With his sarcastic replies and the playful antics of Ho,
Even though there were laughter and fun but we were stunned to hear that Max has liver cancer and has to rely on morphine to ease the pain.
Pete attended to two homeless who were stricken with fevers. It is nice to see him attending to their medical needs. A new record was achieved when the run ended just after two.
Once the run ended, of course we didn't go back home, we went for an early breakfast and I ended in bed around 5 am.
The next morning with only just 3 hours of sleep and off I went to Cafe n Brew, the venue for Hijab and the City's fashion shown to help at the Reach Out's booth selling cupcakes. I felt so out of place. I was having panda eyes, tired look, wore a worn out Reach Out tshirt, a pair of jeans and a pair of sandals. This made me a stand out among those dressed up ladies with make up one. Now I know how Cinderella felt. Luckily, Azizul was right there beside me and together we sold the cupcakes. I placed the cupcakes on the tray and we moved from one lady to another selling cupcakes and we sold all the cupcakes. Never in my mind would I be doing this, carrying a tray of cupcakes going around asking people to buy but I did it. If I am not mistaken, we made RM 500 within 30 to 45 minutes.
Question - would I do this again? Of course yes... as this was not the first time and it would not be the last..
