Before I worked in a college in Klang, it's my trend not to mingle so much with the students so that I can be objective enough in my works. This was carried with me when I started my work there. I am the No 2 in the college and my boss, En. Zuraimy is a handsome, good looking and sexy guy, whom I kept a wide distance from him so that I can keep our relationship on a professional level.

The past has no power over us. Even problems have no power over us. Our power lies in the thoughts that we choose to think today. Life is basically a boomerang. What is being thrown out would come to us. If it is not today, then it would be tomorrow. I am just a human being. Being human I cannot run away from having problems. Everyday I am being haunted by problems from all four corners.I cannot outrun them. They are there waiting for me at home, in my car, in the office, in the shopping mall or even if I have gone overseas to travel.
THEY ARE THERE. Life has been about ups and downs. It never stay still. One minute you will be happy with the events, one minute you will be so piss off with life that you began to wonder why oh why me.
When we are happy we would say life is great but when life is not as what we wanted, we want to control the life so it can be what we want it to be. When we can't control, it will lead to stress, anger, fear, anxiety, sad and depress. I see this in working while I was a volunteer at a Orang Asli Village in Gombak. It is in Batu 12 Gombak. To go to the village, I had to crossed 2 streams and climbed uphill several times. There were about 30 volunteers there and we were divided into 2 groups. One group was to work with the children of the natives and another was to go into the jungle to gather materials to build the roofs for eco-tourism. I joined the one working with the children as I am not the type who love walking in the jungle. For those who said that they love working with children, I took my hat off for them. It was not easy working with 40 super active kids ranging from 5 years old to 13 years old. They were running all over the places, after all this is their home. The facilitators had the tough time in controlling them. This is a story told by Ajahn Brahm during a public seminar in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Once upon a time, there was an old monk who would travel everywhere. A few days before the rain retreat, he stopped by at a house. There was a poor family living there, consist of the husband, the wife, the children and the dog. The husband asked the monk if he has place to stay during the rain retreat. The monk said no. The family then offered to build him a hut and to give food to him everyday. In return, the monk would teach them Buddhism and to give advise them on every day's life. The monk agreed and so he stayed throughout the rain retreat. The family and the dog were overjoyed and when the time has come for the monk to leave, the family begged him not to do so. Even, the dog whined when it was time for the old monk to leave. The monk declined the offer and said to the family, tomorrow morning, the husband must stand with the bow and the arrow at the doorway, facing the direction of the rising sun. When the sun arises, let the arrow fly. Where the arrow drop, the husband will find great treasures. The husband must follow the instructions correctly. Then, the monk left. Venue: Sunway University My first encounter with him was when Steven posted a video of him giving a talk on Does Life Suck? Form there onward, whenever I face a problem I would listen to him talk. I wanted to see him personally. When he was in Penang or Singapore, I wanted so much to see him in person but didn't go like something is preventing me from seeing him. Finally he came to KL and I grabbed the chance to see him.
He is a funny guy. He would never stop laughing and smiling. There's so much compassion in him. Would you believe he is 61 years old guy? He looks younger than that. |
