This is from Pete - " I had the great pleasure to work with a number of amazing folks today from our 1st run to our 2nd run tonight these folks gave it all. And I thank God every day for all of our amazing Run Leaders and their crews who do this every day of the week. Every week I see the care and it reinforces why I started this in the first place. For people to share, care, walk and help without any fear or barrier. Without any agenda other than to help those in need. The Frontline is an amazing group of individuals coming together for a REAL cause. No ego. No lies. Just people who care. Respect to you all." This month would be the twelfth month of me in Reach Out Malaysia... Hahahaha.. I am one year old now.
Got any cake or gift(s) to me Pete? Just joking.... How did I join Reach Out Malaysia? Read all about it here - How did it start? Yesterday runs were the first runs after two weeks of absence from the food run. Well, a lady has to take some break to recharge her energy. This week, I was doing 2 food runs and helping out at the Reach Out Malaysia booth in a fashion show held in the aid of Reach Out Malaysia.
Yesterday was Wednesday and Wednesday's runs are headed by Mustaqim. It's the last run for me in the month of June 2012. It was one of the Reach Out's special CSR. This time, Reach Out run was joined by TV9 doing a documentary for its Ramadan special. I was invited by Pete to join in the run. I would shy away from cameras but because it is for the good cause, I took up the invitation.
5.00 pm - Arrived at Bus Stand Klang with young Andrew, Beary and Vincent. People has started to line up. It was not hot but it was stuffy with the haze in KL. Pete, Feexa, Sazliana and the team from Time.com were there. Oyeen the cat was there but he looked tired. The black cat was there also. In addition, Vincent and Beary found a pigeon who looked quite lost... erm.. must had lost its homing device... The man who had the dislocated shoulder 2 weeks back came to collect the food. He seemed to have recovered. By 6.30 pm, it was all over and we went home.
Today, I conquered my FEAR and WORRY by going to KL alone. It was not easy but I DID IT. 10.30 pm - left all my cards at home, just had RM 50 in the wallet for petrol and emergency used. The song on air was Bruno Mars -today my life begins. How cool is that!!! 11.00 pm - Reached PJ Hilton, it started to drizzle. Had a chat with the staff there before heading off to KL. 11.30 pm - Saw an accident involving 2/3 cars..oh oh worry alarm went off. I was thinking what would happen if my car break down.. Immediately AB came into my mind. His advice to me was be kind and compassionate to the thought... it will fade away with the WORRY in hand. 12.00 am - Reached Al-Wira. Joined Pete, Feeza, Rohainie and her friends. Later, we were joined by Melvin, Melvin JR and another volunteer. 12.30 am - The run started. I was met by Azizul at Puduraya. 12.50 am - Saw a homeless stricken with fever at Bangkok Bank. The usual homeless gave me smiles when I saw them. I didn't talk long with them because I had food to give out, 1.15 am - Masjid Negara. Most of the homeless here are male. Pity them, it was a cold night. 1.40 am - Lost city. I saw a 4 months old baby with the mum sleeping under the bridge. The baby is beautiful and was sleeping like an angel. There's a river, River Klang, which was risen very fast because it was raining tonight. Hopefully, the homeless sleeping there are safe. 2.15 am Masjid India. There were many homeless sleeping there today. I saw a homeless and his cat sleeping under a blanket. It was beautiful. 2.45 am Kotaraya. There was a Myanmar who was hurt in a fight. He was bleeding from the nose. This was the first time I saw such a situation. He refused medical attention. So, Pete just left some medication for him. Then off we went to Maybank to finish up the food. I saw a cockroach searching for food next to the sleeping homeless. 3.15 am Food Distribution end. I started my journey home. I felt great. That Saturday run was special. Why? Here's why.. This is Izz. He's a member of Reach Out Klang Malaysia - Klang team. He has never join the KL run, so, on that Saturday, I took him for the afternoon and night run. He was in a 'culture shock' so as to say as the scene from Klang run is totally different from the KL run. We were late for the afternoon's run because of the heavy rain and traffic jam. We made it though. I got the chance to meet with YM Tengku Azman, Ketua Pemuda UMNO Bukit Bintang and his team SHEB (Sekretariat Hal Ehwal Bandar) that day. He wanted to see first hand as to the situation of homeless in KL.
Today's runs were special.
Why? This is because I participated in 3 of the Reach Out Food Run i.e. Friday's Klang run, KL's afternoon run and KL's midnight run. 3 runs in a row with only a few hours break in between. What A Record! Secondly, I took the RotiBoy's buns from One Utama outlet in the afternoon and the food from PJ Hilton at night. Thirdly, I met a 23 years old Chinese guy who came from Kluang. He looks decent and educated but stayed on the street. I really can't accept this fact. |
AuthorI am still looking for my place in this world. Along the way, I would come across many individuals. Some may need help, some don't. Archives
